janet johnson, marketing pioneer.

I launched O'Johnson Partners in 2004 to meet what I felt was a gap in the marketplace: top marketing talent delivered in a cost-effective and efficient manner. As an experienced leader in integrated, inbound marketing, digital marketing and lead generation strategies for companies of all sizes – from start-up to Fortune 100 – I thrive on helping companies find their competitive edge.

I’ve (inadvertently and intentionally) been a pioneer in digital conversations since the very beginning. In 1973, I took my first mobile phone call while working for AT&T. In 1998, my team drove highly profitable upgrade sales on the web for Now Software. In 2004, I launched the groundbreaking “Paybloggers” program for Marqui, one of social media’s first viral successes.

I’ve counseled a broad spectrum of B2B and B2C organizations, retailers, ad agencies, and other consumer-facing businesses and have held key marketing positions with top technology companies including Apple (for PacTel InfoSystems), Enron, eFusion, Now Software (now Qualcomm) Merant (now Serena Software) and Mambo Media.

In addition to providing hands-on help, I speak on a national circuit about technology and business, and how to leverage digital media and marketing technologies for personal and business success. I also teach marketing and communications classes regularly at Portland State University's Center for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE).

"Janet has one of the best marketing minds I know. From strategic planning to building a modern marketing team, she has the skills, knowledge and leadership qualities to build a high-performing marketing team that hits goals every time.”
- Siouxsie Jennett, Mambo Media

why i love what i do.

I wake up every morning excited about what I do. From breakthroughs in the field to insights shared by teams with whom I work, I'm inspired by the world of marketing. I particularly enjoy digging into complex problems, untangling the threads, and then collaboratively arriving at a solution that yields transformative results.

Whether I'm teaching a class on business communications or coaching a team member on digital strategies, every opportunity to interact with and learn from others is a net gain. My experience helps younger folks grow, but their perspective helps me see things in new and interesting ways. It's truly a win / win!

It's a thrill to work with global teams on a strategic level to assess current marketing frameworks and brainstorm on new directions to head. But I also love the hands-on work, whether I'm creating personas and bringing them to life, writing content, implementing digital campaigns or overseeing branding initiatives.

Above all, I love that I'm a bridge between the tech and non-tech spheres. I can "translate" for those of us who are still new to technology and I can guide and mentor those who were born with an iPhone in their hands. Connecting humanity with technology is what invigorates and rejuvenates me. Lucky I!

ELICIA PUTNAM, BRANDING EXPERT
Picture
Elicia Putnam is a branding expert who’s created success stories for a wide range of companies – from retail to healthcare to professional services to education. Her work resulted in a 350% increase in revenues for an online retail company. It paved the way for a large multi-specialty medical clinic to have the most profitable year in its 67-year history. It led to a 1150% spike in lead generation for a software educational company.

Elicia’s effectiveness stems from her unique and highly interactive methodology. Her workshop leadership engenders a rapid sharing of ideas and spurs teams to immediately move forward in positive and powerful directions. Although she initially focused on branding issues, Elicia discovered the approach allowed stakeholders to unite on other key business decisions, including go-to-market strategies, distribution channels, management team development, and other strategic planning issues. Elicia’s interactive and dynamic approach ensures all participants are heard equally, so no idea is lost. Her system is extremely efficient. What management teams may wrestle with for months, they can solve in hours under Elicia’s guidance.

“Elicia has a way of cutting quickly to the core. Her process is an extremely efficient use of time and money that quickly gets at the heart of strategic, business and branding issues.”
